Gulfport, MS: Family Vacation

Explore the Gulf Coast! From Gulfport’s beaches and the Mississippi Aquarium to New Orleans' jazz, Café du Monde, and a peaceful retreat at Flint Creek Water Park. A journey filled with culture, nature, and adventure!

Gulfport is a beautiful city located on the Gulf of Mexico in Mississippi. It offers stunning beaches, vibrant local culture, and delicious seafood. Our visit to Gulfport was filled with memorable experiences and breathtaking views. I just got back from an incredible trip to the Gulf Coast, and I'm eager to share all the details! From November 18th to the 26th, my family and I embarked on a journey through different cities, indulging in local flavors and creating cherished memories.

Our adventure started in Gulfport, where we were graciously hosted by family. The Mississippi Aquarium proved to be a fantastic family outing. From the playful dolphins to the mesmerizing jellyfish, every exhibit brought us closer to the wonders of the ocean. Interactive displays kept us engaged, we were even able to touch many kinds of stingrays and sharks. We left with a newfound appreciation for marine life.

Swamp Stories In Slidell, LA

Leaving the beach vibes of Gulfport behind, we waded into the captivating swamps of Louisiana. Our Honey Island Swamp Tour in Slidell was a real gem. The second we hopped on that boat, our guide cranked up the excitement for what turned out to be an educational and downright thrilling ride. Our guide, a total swamp expert and storyteller extraordinaire, fed us fascinating stories about the swamp's past, the unique ecosystem, and the wild critters that call it home.

The swamp truly came alive! Gators, of all sizes lounging like they owned the place, gracefully dipped beneath the surface as our boat glided closer. Our guide's eagle eyes spotted raccoons on a snack hunt along the banks, and the air was alive with the calls of the swamp's feathered residents. From majestic herons to flashy kingfishers, this place was a birdwatcher's dream. The boat silently drifted, letting us observe these creatures without cramping their style. Our guide, bubbling with love for the swamp, pointed out how delicate this ecosystem is. It was a lesson in conservation, a reminder that we're just guests in their wild home. Our group had gone in the fall time so the weather was already chilly and got colder as we moved on the boat. We recommend bringing your jackets, windbreakers and glasses to protect from the boat's wind.

New Orleans: Jazz, History, and Flavor

Rolling into New Orleans was like stepping into a living, breathing piece of history. The streets were alive with the sounds of street performers, musicians, and artists of all kinds. Jazz notes wove through the air, creating a soundtrack that accompanied our every step.

Now, let's talk about Café du Monde a NOLA staple that welcomed us with open arms. Nestled in the heart of the French Quarter, this iconic café is famed for its beignets. Picture this: pillowy squares of fried dough, generously dusted with powdered sugar. The moment we bit into those warm, heavenly pastries, we understood why Café du Monde is a must-visit. The combination of the sweet aroma, the flaky texture, and the bustling atmosphere around us is always a must-stop for us. This place is super well known so be prepared to wait in line and it was CASH ONLY so be prepared for this.

Our next stop was The Sazerac House and had to make a reservation for the day and time we were going. This spot blended history with a touch of the modern. This place wasn't just a whiskey tour; it was a journey through time. The Sazerac House not only showcased the art of crafting the perfect cocktail but also delved into the rich history of New Orleans' role in shaping the world of spirits. New Orleans had an uncanny ability to weave together its vibrant history, lively music, and mouthwatering cuisine into an experience that was uniquely its own.

Wiggins, Mississippi: Cabin Retreat at Flint Creek Water Park

Celebrating our one-year anniversary in South Padre Island was truly special—a perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and unforgettable memories. From driving along the beach and exploring the town to indulging in incredible food and learning about local wildlife, this trip had it all and so much more to offer. Some things I would change when I return would be to try viewing a Space X launch in Boca Chica.

Thank you for joining me on this journey and sharing in the moments that made it so meaningful. If you’re looking for a destination that offers beautiful beaches, delicious food, and unique experiences, I can’t recommend South Padre Island enough. It’s a place where cherished memories are waiting to be made, and I hope it inspires you to start planning your own adventure soon.
